Beauty Protocol, a series of monochrome portrait studies with red lips

Beauty Protocol

Beauty Protocol is a series of surreal portrait studies drawn as pages from a fictional archive: a place where beauty is not admired but processed. Each study documents one subject at one stage of a procedure. Symmetry is checked. Hair is calibrated. A mark is placed. A second face is fitted. Maintenance is scheduled. The annotations, alignment lines and control codes around each portrait are the language of that system, precise and indifferent.

The drawings are monochrome ink on white, and the only colour is red: the lips, and the single word that names the study. It is the one part of each subject the protocol has not managed to neutralise.

The series is about control and what slips out of it. About standards applied to faces, and the small imperfections that survive them. Every subject comes from the same archive, but no two are at the same stage.

Each study is printed large on the front of a white 280 gsm heavyweight boxy tee, 100% combed cotton, made to order. Back is blank.
